Ile d'Er is located off Tréguier, Côtes d'Armor, North Brittany. Since 1967, tanks have been dug in order to store the waste from various oil spills, such as the sinking of the Torrey Canyon in 1967, or the Amoco Cadiz in 1978. Studies were carried out in 2008, showing that nature had resumed his rights. An emptying operation for the rest of the waste was organized in 2011.
